William Metzger

Today we honor William Metzger with the Harrisburg Fire Department whose LODD was 6/1/1941. Harrisburg Fire Department. Harrisburg, PA Fireman Metzger was the driver of Ambulance 1 and lived in the quarters of Engine 6. While off-duty, he responded with the company to a box alarm, which proved to be false. While standing near the engine as the other firefighters investigated the alarm, he was struck by a speeding auto and suffered multiple trauma. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died a short time later.
