Today we honor Jackson Gerhart with the Chambersburg Fire Department whose LODD was 12/05/2004. Today, we remember Jackson Gerhart, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty while at a house fire in Chambersburg 21 years ago today at the age of 65. Jackson was a life member of West End Fire and Rescue, along with many other companies throughout Franklin County. He played an instrumental part in supporting all companies in the Cumberland Valley. When not serving the communities of the Cumberland Valley, Jackson served as a firefighter at Engine Co. 17 in Washington D.C. for 32 years, where he received the Department’s highest award‚ the Bronze Bar of Valor‚ twice‚ two Silver Medals from the Mayor’s Meritorious Award Committee‚ in addition to numerous commendations and letters of appreciation. Not a day goes by that Jackson contributions to not only West End, but other companies goes unnoticed. Please join us in remembering Jackson today. May he continue to rest and look upon us.
