Today we honor Charles Waple with the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department whose LODD was 7/26/1973. Charles F. “Pete” Waple succumbed to his injuries resulting from a Fire Apparatus accident while responding to a reported structure fire. Pete’s passing was the first and only line of duty death in the Union Hose Company’s 177 year history. Today and every day the members of the Union Hose Company and the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department honor his service and sacrifice.
